My timeshare email comparisons

“Are you looking to buy a timeshare” the email read.? I just received an email today from a company selling Hilton vacation ownerships.? In the past I would have not paid too close attention to the details. But since I recently bought a timeshare alternative I was curious to see what these timeshares were selling for.

The email confirmed my suspicion that timeshares can be really overpriced.? The cheapest timeshare that was reported on the email was 3,000 dollars and it came with 3,400 points but they didn’t list the maintenance fee or the many other restrictions and fees associated with the purchase. I could have called the phone number on the email but I didn’t want to waste the persons time pretending to be interested in a timeshare or vacation ownership when I really wasn’t…

Now, let’s look at the other email I recently received. This one came from my Global Resorts membership.? This particular property was Marriot owned so this is not a side by side comparison but I think you will get the point. This offer was to stay at the Marriot’s Manor Club at the Ford Colony in Williamsburg, Virginia.? A place that we plan on visiting next year with my family.? The special price was only 475 dollars to stay in a 2 bedroom resort for 7 days!? I think the “tale of two emails” clearly demonstrated that I made the right decision.

Here is the video I produced that actually shows the emails and explains the difference between a retail timeshare purchase and my timeshare alternative.
